White Lighting Displays

Many people enjoy the stark, crisp and clean appearance of all white décor. All white is an elegant and summery look that makes people feel like they are in the right place. If a room is decorated in all white then it implies that a person has a lot of wealth and no pets or children. It is a beach chic look one imagines they might see in the vacation house of someone rich and famous. Even if you do not have the stomach for an all-white decorating scheme you can still do mostly white tones that are punctuated by bright colours here and there. Regardless of the approach you take one thing that compliments all white décor is plenty of good lighting. By building a white display that is furnished with plenty of lighting you can attract a lot of attention.

Seating Areas

A mostly white living room arrangement would consist of white furnishings décor and most importantly lamps. The white light issued by a cream coloured table lamp fits right in to the shabby chic decorating theme. Generally table lamps are place on side tables that flank the couch and chairs. But there are other ways to incorporate white lighting. One look that gets a lot of attention is suspending a hanging lantern over a padded chair. For a white theme consider the look of a simple paper lantern. It is possible to hang strings of white lights over the mantle or sofa in order to bring in more white lighting.

The Boudoir

An all-white bedroom is a decedent retreat for some lucky people. Such sleeping chambers usually consist of white walls with large windows and light coloured soft furnishings. The natural light from outdoors will fall through the sheer white curtains bringing in white lighting. It is even better if there is a four post bed with creamy drapes falling from the rails. For the evening time a distressed cream coloured table lamp works just as well on the bedside tables. White candles dressed up with hurricane lamps can be lined on a shelf or placed on a dresser to create a complimentary glow at night.

Water Closets

The restroom is often decorated in many ways. But they all have a lot of things in common, mostly porcelain and mirrors. However all bathrooms look their best when clean.  An all-white bathroom, when properly maintained, is as fresh as it gets. For this look a white shower curtain and plenty of fluffy white towels are a must have. Recessed wall lighting with a neutral toned sconce is great for filling the room with light and a bathroom chandelier is even better. For the shabby chic look a claw footed tub is a mainstay in the white coloured water closet.

Dining Rooms

All white dining rooms are not for the faint of heart. But for a special occasion such an eating arrangement can be truly memorable. A wooden dining room table that has been painted white is an easy way to add light colouring to the room. White lighting such as a chandelier suspended from the ceiling will make the room look much whiter. White or silver candlesticks topped off with white candles are one way to go, as are cream coloured lanterns and votive holders. By displaying an assortment of white servingware or plates even the wall art can bring in light tones.

Outdoor Displays

The all-white theme can be extended outdoors into the yard or patio. This look is particularly suited to the beach house style. But white matches everything and could easily be worked into an urban balcony or woodsy cabin deck. To get more white into an outdoor room try using patio furniture with white cushions. White lighting on the wall or even with a table lamp will bring in a lot of whiteness into the area. Strings of white faerie lights look romantic all year round especially when woven around the boughs of an ancient tree.
