We’ve always liked a statement piece with a nautical feel, and our Doorstop Rope Hive in White fits right in - it’s functional, but also a bit of fun. Made from chunky cotton rope wrapped around a concrete core, this 13x13x15cm doorstop is sturdy but soft to the touch, so it won’t scratch timber floors. Now that’s a standout doorstop. Doorstops really aren’t the most interesting thing to buy or even sell - but if you want one that gets people talking, our Rope Hive in white delivers on the whole quirky angle. It’s a white (off-white?) rope wound around something heavy with a little loop at the top for carrying or just hanging somewhere till you need it. At 13x13cm, it’s just enough to actually keep your doors open without looking…out of place. We do like the fact that it looks made by hand - yes, we have seen handwoven rope items before but something about this one makes it different from those very loose-woven doorstops and baskets; probably because they’re much more tightly coiled here and you can see those patterns where some are left exposed while others overlap. These go well anywhere except bathrooms - maybe not kitchens too because of all the humidity and heat but apart from that there isn’t any hard rule about where or what these work for (we’ve even seen them used as table paperweights).
