Eye-catching coastal style. It’s the shape of this turtle bowl that really gets people talking, then you notice the glossed ceramic inlay covered in starfish, shells and coral. A hybrid of wood and stoneware makes a good display item with a small footprint (16.5x24x4.5cm), but retailers say their customers are also using these as beachy serving bowls for nibbles or treats.

Easy to pair with plain homewares or summery décor, so there’s no pressure on them to overhaul their interior style - it’ll just slot right in with what they have already going on at home. Here’s something we wish we saw more of - homewares with a bit of playfulness. A reminder that not everything has to match, and that old-world coastal charm still works in the most contemporary homes. Our Turtle Bowl Coastal is an excellent example, and these are just flying off the shelves at our shop. On first glance, we get why some might see it as just another turtle bowl. Wooden base, ceramic interior in a contrasting white finish… but then you spot the sea blue motifs all around the interior, and it clicks into place - this is special. Now, retailers have been using this 16.5x24x4.5cm bowl in so many ways: as a dinner table accent for casual weekend entertaining; at bathrooms with an aroma candle on top or bath bombs on display; and even as a jewellery tray on vanity dressers. Our suggestion would be pairing with other organic textures - cane basket bags, dry flowers or planters, and exposed timber finishes everywhere else.
